Questions, answered.

About ChatGPT shopping, the plugin and the feed.

Will ChatGPT show my products?

Being in the feed makes your products eligible. It does not guarantee they are shown. That decision is OpenAI’s.

Do I need an OpenAI merchant account?

Yes. You apply at chatgpt.com/merchants and OpenAI reviews each application. The plugin has an “Apply to ChatGPT” tab with a checklist and ready answers for the form.

Which countries are supported?

OpenAI’s standard feed upload currently targets stores that sell in the US with prices in USD. Other countries need confirmation from OpenAI. The readiness check works for any WooCommerce store.

Where do shoppers pay?

On your store. ChatGPT helps shoppers find products and sends them to your product page.

Can I sell digital products?

Most digital goods, such as downloadable files and templates, are not supported by OpenAI. Regular software and licenses are an exception. The plugin marks downloadable products and leaves them out of the feed by default.

What feed format does the plugin create?

A gzip-compressed JSON Lines file (products.jsonl.gz) in OpenAI’s product feed format. It is rebuilt daily and can also be generated on demand.

How does the feed get to OpenAI?

OpenAI accepts feeds over SFTP, as a full snapshot at least once a day. With the free plugin you upload the file yourself. Pro will upload it automatically.

Does it work with Yoast SEO or Rank Math?

Yes. The markup check understands @graph output from Yoast and Rank Math, ProductGroup and microdata. If an SEO plugin removed WooCommerce product markup, you can turn it back on in the settings.

What do I need to run it?

WordPress 6.5 or newer, WooCommerce 8.0 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer. The plugin is compatible with WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage.

Is the free plugin really free?

Yes. The readiness check and the feed are free, with no product limit. Pro adds automation and monitoring for stores that want it hands-off.
