Getting started.

Install the plugin, run the readiness check, generate your feed and apply to ChatGPT.

Requirements

  • WordPress 6.5 or newer
  • WooCommerce 8.0 or newer
  • PHP 7.4 or newer
  • HTTPS on your store

OpenAI’s standard feed upload currently targets stores that sell in the US with prices in USD.

Install

  1. Download the plugin as a ZIP file.
  2. In WordPress, open Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
  3. Choose the ZIP file, click Install Now, then Activate.
  4. Open WooCommerce → PromptStocked.

Settings

Open the Settings tab and fill in:

  • Seller name: your store name as shoppers see it.
  • Store URL: your storefront home page.
  • Default brand: used only when a product has no brand in Products → Brands. Leave it empty if your products have real brands.
  • Privacy policy URL and Terms of service URL: needed for ChatGPT checkout. The privacy policy is taken from Settings → Privacy by default.
  • Return policy URL: optional, a public page with your return or final-sale terms.
  • Leave downloadable products out of the feed: on by default.
  • Restore WooCommerce product markup: turn this on if an SEO plugin removed product markup from product pages.

Readiness check

Open the Readiness check tab and click Check my store. The report has two parts.

Store

HTTPS, seller name, privacy policy and terms links, product markup on a sample product page, store currency and downloadable products.

Products

Each problem shows how many items have it, with links to the products:

  • No description
  • No brand, or brand only from the “Default brand” setting
  • No main image
  • No regular price
  • No GTIN (UPC, EAN or ISBN), or an invalid GTIN, which is left out of the feed
  • Title longer than 150 characters, shortened in the feed

Fix the products, then click Check again.

Product feed

The ChatGPT feed tab shows the number of items in the feed, the file size and when it was last generated. The feed is rebuilt once a day. Click Generate feed now to rebuild it at any time, or Download feed to get the file.

The file is products.jsonl.gz: one product per line in OpenAI’s format, compressed with gzip. OpenAI receives feeds over SFTP as a full snapshot at least once a day. After your application is approved, OpenAI gives you the upload details.

Apply to ChatGPT

The Apply to ChatGPT tab has a checklist. When everything is done, open the application at chatgpt.com/merchants.

  1. Run the readiness check.
  2. Fix store-level problems (HTTPS, seller name, product markup).
  3. Publish a privacy policy and terms of service.
  4. Sell physical goods, or regular software and licenses.
  5. Sell in the US, with prices in USD.
  6. Generate the feed.

The tab also lists answers for the application form, taken from your store: business name, website, contact email, platform, number of products, main categories, country and currency.

Being in the feed does not guarantee that ChatGPT shows your products.

Troubleshooting

“Could not write the feed file”

Check that the wp-content/uploads folder is writable by the web server.

Product markup not found

Some SEO plugins replace WooCommerce product markup. Turn on Restore WooCommerce product markup in Settings and run the check again.

The feed is almost empty

Downloadable products are left out by default, and items with blocking problems are skipped. Look at Items left out in the readiness check.
